2022 jSchool Theme Announcement

We are excited to announce the theme for the 2022 jSchool:

Sustainability: What Psychology can Contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations have developed 17 global goals—the so-called Sustainable Development Goals (https://sdgs.un.org/goals). These goals call for urgent action against the most pressing global challenges of our time, including poverty, health and well-being, inequalities, climate change, and justice, to ensure a sustainable future for both people and planet. Importantly, psychological research can substantially contribute to achieving these goals.

We are delighted to invite project proposals from current PhD students and early-career postdoctoral researchers interested in psychological contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. We welcome scientific study proposals from all psychological disciplines with a focus on either one or multiple of these goals.

Example projects include but are not limited to:

  1. Public perceptions and prioritization of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals across countries (see Bain et al., 2019Chen et al., 2021)
  2. How can we improve public health and well-being in general or in specific contexts such as the workplace (see Di Fabio, 2017Brewer et al., 2017)?
  3. Relationship between different types of values and green behaviors (see Bolderdijk et al., 2013)
  4. What are the effects of different learning strategies on life-long learning (see Endres et al., 2021)?
  5. How can (re)connecting people with nature promote climate action as well as public health and well-being (see Martin et al., 2020)?
  6. How can we improve decision-making to reduce inequalities (see Durand et al., 2014)?

Stay tuned for more details on this year’s jSchool. The supervisor applications will be announced shortly. In the meantime, questions about the theme can be directed to Ms. Sandra Geiger, Research Officer 2022-23, researchofficer@pscholars.org.
