Project outline

The project focuses on both organizational and individual characteristics that affect the way companies adapt, strive and survive in the dynamic software business. Our research explores the ways in which managers make organizational decisions, typically characterized by two styles, deliberative and intuitive, and their relation to organization’s strategic orientations, such as external adaptation, integration towards customers, or financial orientation. As decision-making is a cognitive process, we also explore the influence of biases and individual preferences that affect the decisions and therefore the outcomes for the organizations .

The added value of the research lies in investigating theoretical interdependencies of these constructs in a fast paced market where decision-making styles need to be swiftly adapted and strategic orientations are key to organisational success. Refining the decision-making process can allow a company to increase its market share, reduce costs and gain strategic advantage over competitors.

We invite managers from start-ups and small and medium-sized software companies to take part in the project by simply completing a brief online survey. With your participation in this project you have the opportunity to evaluate how and what type of strategic decisions are made in your organization as you will receive a personalized report of your company’s results afterwards.

If you are interested in optimizing decision-making and strategy of your company, do not hesitate to participate in the research project and contact us by email (organizationalchoice@pscholars.org)
