Events
The JRP experience takes 13 months and begin with completing the jSchool. Junior Researchers are invited for the optional jMeeting and for the opportunity to participate in the jGlobal. Finally, Junior Researchers must present the progress of the project at the JRP Conference. As part of the JRP Alumni Network, many teams decide to continue their projects hereafter.
We have gathered a number of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any futher questions, you can contact the JRP Team at jrp@pscholars.org.
jSchool
The jSchool is a week-long summer school event for students and early career researchers in psychology or behavioural sciences, who each aspire to create meaningful research projects in an international environment. The event is taking place in Siena, Italy, every summer with all research a common annual theme. Typically, six enthusiastic PhD students from top academic institutions act as Research Supervisors. The Research Supervisors collaborate with around 40 motivated undergraduate and postgraduate/master students, divided into six teams. Each team starts collaboration during the jSchool and conducts research together for thirteen months. All teams commit to present their progress at the annual JRP Conference in Cambridge.
The jSchool is designed to create an environment where emerging researchers find the right tools to enhance their abilities while delivering outcomes at a professional standard while enjoying a special, unforgettable ambience.
jMeeting
Participants are invited to attend the jMeeting the following February.
This optional 4-day event provides all teams the opportunity to meet again and work on their ongoing projects in person.
We have previously held jMeeting in Vienna and Madrid, as well as simultaneously with European Conventions.
jGlobal
Each year, we have aimed to provide an optional opportunity to join a research visit with the Policy Research Group at the University of Cambridge. The research visit has evolved through different formats based on the expertise of those leading the project.
This visit is conducted in partnership with the Columbia University Global Behavioral Science (GLOBES) program and focuses on reproducible behavioural research across languages and settings.
Over the past couple of years, visiting researchers have helped develop, finalise, and publish the following:
- A 27-country test of communicating the scientific consensus on climate change
- The Globalisibility of Temporal Discounting
- Political Metaperceptions
- Psychology and Behavioral Economics: Applications for Public Policy
JRP Conference
The JRP Conference is the capstone event for each cohort, held annually at Corpus Christi College at the University of Cambridge. This event is an opportunity for the project teams to present the progress of their work since beginning at the previous jSchool.
The event usually includes interactive sessions, a full day of presentations, a formal dinner, and socials in Cambridge and surroundings. Upon successful participation, team members officially become part of the JRP Alumni Network.
