Conspiratorial thinking and misinformation has seen a meteoric rise in recent years. Individuals with beliefs in misinformation can show hesitance to change their mind when presented with disconfirmatory evidence. Do individuals tend to listen more to the evidence based on factual validation or do they tend to listen more to their “gut feeling”? This study will look into the various ways that one’s beliefs could be debunked and how effective they are. More importantly, our findings could help better understand the underlying mechanisms of questioning misinformed beliefs.
