Ms Francesca Papa from the OECD will give the opening lecture at jSchool 2019

We are delighted to announce our third lecturer for the 2019 jSchool in Italy will be Ms Francesca Papa, a Behavioural Insights Consultant at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Among many things, the OECD is one of the leading organisations globally in the move toward better applications of Behavioural Science in policy, and Ms Papa brings an exciting message about her views on that work to Siena in July.

A young professional herself, Francesca received her Master in Behavioral and Decision Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania (US) and holds the 2018 Brenno Galli Award as Most Promising Young Scholar in Law and Economics. Prior to her graduate work, she completed her bachelor studies in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) between LUISS, Stanford, and Sciences Po Paris. She has also worked for the European Commission.

Five applications of behavioural economics

For her talk at the jSchool, Francesca will present her views on how and when insights can be applied to public policy, drawing from four experimental applications of behavioural economics developed by the OECD in collaboration with national entities around the world The topics will range from antitrust and competition law to environmental behaviour, safety culture and consumer protection. In addition, Francesca will overview recent findings from a large scale experiment on behavioural ethics, social norms and norm evasion by her research team at the University of Pennsylvania.
