We are pleased to announce that all five Supervisors have now been selected for the 2018 jSchool. We were honoured to have received a large pool of interesting and high-quality applications from PhD and postdoctoral researchers from all over the world. The theme for the 2018-2019 JRP is Communication: the psychology of information, and our five confirmed projects cover this from a large number of angles in their research proposals. Stay tuned in the coming weeks, as we will be sharing more details about these researchers and their exciting projects. Here is a brief preview for now:
Ms Amrita Ahluwalia, from the University of Edinburgh, will explore how individual differences in the endorsement of moral values might affect tendencies to believe misinformation (i.e. fake news).
Mr Renan Benigno Saraiva, from the University of Portsmouth & Maastricht University, will investigate better ways to communicate evidence to jurors to promote better decision-making.
Dr Elisa Berdica, from the University of Mannheim will investigate how extensive use of digital communication influences the processing of nonverbal cues.
Dr Alexandra Carstensen, from Radboud University will be investigating cross-cultural variation in preschoolers’ relational reasoning. Furthermore, her study will be looking at examining features of language and culture that influence the early development of abstract thought.
Dr Gabriela Pavarini, from the University of Oxford, will be looking at testing a video game that explores young people’s moral attitudes towards predictive genetic testing, particularly in the context of Alzheimer’s Disease.
