Junior Researcher Programme Sustainability Policy

Acknowledging the extensive scientific evidence showcasing the devastating effects of waste and pollution on the environment, the Junior Researcher Programme commits to a number of measures in an effort to reduce waste and consumption.

Policy

  1. Whenever possible, the JRP will not buy single-use plastic products (e.g., cutlery, cups, plates), but instead opt for environmentally friendly options, such as biodegradable and compostable products.
  2. The jSchool and JRPC events will not hand out temporary event materials such as goodie bags, plastic badges, or lanyards. Participants will receive stickers or similarly less waste producing identifiers.
  3. Event programmes will no longer be printed but provided in PDF format to participants.
  4. Documents in JRP Team meetings or during event preparations will only be printed if necessary for the completion of a task.
  5. All participants of JRP events will be strongly encouraged to adhere to best recycling and waste management practices.
  6. The JRP has made—and will continue to make—an effort toward centralising meeting hubs or merging with concurrent events. This will make it possible for Team members and event attendees to minimise their carbon footprint.
