Team den Elzen at jSchool 2023

A small part of conspiracy believers are willing to use violence in support of their beliefs, with youth being especially at risk. However, little is known about the role of cultural values in this relationship. Therefore, this study will focus on the role of acceptance of inequalities in society (i.e., power distance orientation) in the relationship between conspiracy mentality and radicalization. We expect an overall positive relationship between conspiracy mentality and radical attitudes and intentions and that this relationship will be stronger for high power distance than for low power distance. We will test this by distributing a survey in seven countries varying in power distance values, specifically, Austria, Canada, Czechia, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia.
